Hare & Hunter Review
Have you ever taken a photo from Instagram into your hairdresser with the dream of coming out looking the same? Have you ever paid through the roof to get your hair done and called your best friend straight after upset about the result?
I can easily answer YES to each question. The first time I got my hair highlighted it was for my Senior Ball, at the time my Mother didn't realise she was creating someone who would forever become addicted to having her hair done!
Rodney Wayne or Servilles is were where I got my hair done, I am just your standard girl who got a cut, colour and only ever wanted curls at the end. I wouldn't say I am fussy but if you are going to charge me $300+ for a do I want stand up from that chair you have had me sitting in for 3 hours and feel like a different woman. Don't get me wrong here, I am by no means knocking the brands of Rodney Wayne or Servilles they are great, well established businesses. However your experience in a Salon like this is dependent of 2 very simple things.
1. The Hairdresser
The quality and experience of your hairdresser is important, however them LISTENING to what you say in your consultation is EVERYTHING. I would get the hairdresser that agreed to everything I was saying but you could see that she was waiting to finish your highlights so she could go on her 15 minute smoko break.
2. How busy the Salon is
I used to call the Salons and go 'Can you please book me in with your blonde specialist as I am nervous about getting my hair done?' They would always say 'Sure!'
Later to be sitting in the seat having a consultation with this 'Blonde Specialist' to have her say 'Aimee is now going to take over to do the colour' This used to blow my mind, I deliberately ask for one person to do my hair from start to finish but get passed over to someone who could be nothing more than a trainee?
If you look at bigger branded Salon's like these two you will find their approach to be very transactional, they are focused on bums in seats and how long it takes to turn around each person. I get that, I have worked in sales for more than 7 years now and getting the fast sale is a good one but trust me it is not one that will come back for repeat business. I don't want to be a number, I want someone to do my hair that I trust, that listens and that wants to be a friend at the end of the day - this is what I found when I first went to Hare & Hunter.
Hare & Hunter is a Hair Salon located in Remuera, Auckland New Zealand. Specalising in Weddings and Special Events as well as being a Blonde and Balayage Specialist, Brooke Mann will transform the way you feel.
Brooke has been in the industry for over 12 years, originally from Australia, Brooke's passion is to make everyone who comes to her salon leave feeling great about themselves.
Being my first time going out on a lim and contacting someone on Instagram to do my hair, I must admit when I arrived at Brooke's home salon I was slightly nervous! However, to be greeted at the door by Brooke and her lovely son Tenzin I was completely at ease. Upstairs Brooke has the entire set up and talked me through what I wanted, not only did she listen to what I needed she actually cared so I knew I was going to have a great result.
The process took a while but when you are transforming from drab to fab it is worth it, we talked about life, love, and all things girly and in the space of the morning I can genuinely say I made a friend I will keep in my life for a long time.
Not only did Brooke care, she took the time to understand me as a person, talk me through everything and produce a result that I was beyond happy with! I have been getting my hair done now for 8 years and this is the first time I have felt that it was worth my money and time!
If you are looking for an expierence that is genuine, honest, and professional look no further than Hare & Hunter!
